I’ve been photographing landscapes for more than 25 years. As a mostly self-taught photographer, I started out shooting film in the 1990s with a Canon A2 camera. Back then there was no delete button, which forced me to learn exposure and composition through trial-and-error in the field.
My passion for travel and photography has taken me to locations around the world, from New Zealand and Hawaii to the canyons of the Southwest. With a long career as a science writer specializing in earth science, I have a unique understanding of geologic landscapes and natural environments.
My photos have been published in print magazines and online publications, many times as illustrations for an article I’ve written. I’m also author of the award-winning book, Utah Canyon Country: 20 Must-See Sites and Short Hikes, which explores the desert landscapes of southern Utah through my photos and writing.
My images are available as prints and wall art or for digital licensing. Visit my photography site to view image galleries, or contact me for information on how I can help you with illustration needs for travel or science content.
